Types of Non-Woven Fabrics

There are eight main types of non-woven fabrics.

Spunlace

These types of fabrics are produced by depositing the spun filaments on a collection belt uniformly.

The spun filaments are then bonded into fibers. Electrostatic charges and then separates the fibers during the web laying process.

The bonding impacts both the integrity and the strength of the web process by applying hot needles or heated to fuse the textures and melt the polymer.

Heat Bonded Non-Woven Fabrics

These non-woven materials are manufactured in a series of several processes.

The steps include adding a sticky reinforcement material or fibrous material into the fiber network.

The network is then reinforced into cloth through heating and cooling

Pulp Air-Laid Non-Woven

Pulp air-land non-woven fabrics are made of a wood pulp, which absorbs liquids well.

To enhance the absorption capabilities, air-land non-woven fabrics are mixed with other liquid-absorbent materials; this, it?

This named a dry paper non-woven material.

Air-land is made through an air laying procedure and reinforced of the web.

Wet Non-Woven

Wet non-woven materials are made through a modified papermaking process.

The fibers used in the process are suspended in water to produce structures with excellent texture, strength, and flexibility.

The wet materials are made using specialized paper machines that separate water from the fibers.

The separation ensures that the final product does not only have a uniform appearance

and texture but also well bonded and dried.

Spunbond Non-Woven

The spun-bond nonwoven fabrics are processed using the following processes: the polymer is extruded then stretched to form a continuous filament.

The filament is laid into the web and then the web is processed into a join-woven fabric through

thermal biomechanical reinforcement and chemical bonding.

Melt Blown Non-Woven

The melt-blown nonwoven is made by extruding the melted polymer fiber through a continuous die made several small holes.

The liner dye forms long, thin fibers, which are stretched and

then cooled by passing them through hot air.

Stitch Non-Woven

This is a dry non-woven fabric. It is manufactured by using a warp knitted

loop structure that reinforces the fiber web or a yarn layer to form a non-woven fabric.

Acupuncture Non-Woven

The acupuncture non-woven is made by reinforcing a fluffy fiber into cloth by using a needle puncture.

Steps to Choosing the Right Non-Woven Fabric

The type of non-woven fabric you choose for your end-use product is critical.

Here are the 3 steps you need to follow to get the right fabric.

Step 1: Decide on the physical characteristics of the non-woven fabric

Step 2: Consider the fiber you want to use

                                                                              Step 3
: Determine the process for manufacturing the product.
